Tom's Parallax Basic Stamp Home Automation Ideas

Updated: 09/10/03

Here are a couple of Automation Ideas I have designed that use the Basic Stamp microcontroller manufactured by Parallax Inc.

Building a Multi-Housecode RF Receiver using a Basic Stamp-IIsx

The current X-10 transceivers (eg TM751, RR501, etc...) are designed to only receive and send X-10 signals on ONE user-specified Housecode (1 of a possible 16).  Most Home Automation systems installed in residences often use more than one housecode for RF control purposes.  This setup requires that multiple X-10 transceivers be installed for proper operation.

This project involves the building of a Multi-Housecode X-10 Transceiver. This design uses three components, mainly a TW523 X-10 powerline interface, a Parallax Inc. Basic Stamp-IIsx programmable microcontroller and a RF receiver/daughterboard taken out of a TM751 X-10 Transceiver. This project can then replace all the transceivers installed.
